I was responsible for...
My responsibilities consisted of up selling food and beverage to poolside guests at the resorts pool Rivertop restaurant which includes up to 1,050 total chairs.

I accomplished...
Accomplished earning experience at such a large resort, as well as building my reputation in the Marriott world.

My most valuable effort...
The most valuable project that I worked on was to find a need. It was valuable because after the project was completed I felt that I left something behind that people will remember me by.

I learned...
The most valuable experience I encountered was serving a section of nienty chairs for over nine hours in one day. I learned from it that I can stay very organized while serving and still effectively serve more guests than I ever imagined.

I will never forget...
The most memorable experience from this internship would be the friendship and connects I made along the way. There was over thirty five fellow interns that I made connections with from all over the world. Like in every industry, sometimes its all about who you know.

A surprising discovery...
Something that I didn't expect was that the micros computers we used to put our orders in were so slow and had many glitches. It changed the way I looked at our profession because I realized how much we rely on technology now a days and how bad it can be when technology fails. People have to learn how to still run a restaurant when technology goes down.

Advice for others...
The advice I give to other students who might follow in my footsteps: have it in your contract to cross train so that you don't get stuck in the same position all summer.

I first learned about this career-building experience from...
I first learned about this internship at the career fair.

I landed this assignment by...
I landed this internship by talking with the international Marriott stand at the career fair and interviewing with Marriott the following day.

I wanted this experience because...
During the interview with Marriott, the Marriott representative asked me where I wanted to go. I was open minded as to where I would go for the summer. I was given multiple options with Marriott a few weeks later when I got an email/phone call with my offer. Those options being: Phoenix, Aspen, and San Antonio. After weighing my options I decided on San Antonio.
