I was responsible for...
The Edward Jones Financial Advisor Summer Internship Program is designed to teach interns what the life of an Edward Jones financial adviser is like. I spent a lot of my time shadowing my host financial adviser, Tammie Schroeder. I sat in on client meetings and listened in on call sessions. I also met with and shadowed advisers of different experience levels. As part of the program I was also responsible for planning a seminar, making phone calls to inactive clients, as well as completing a community evaluation survey.

I will never forget...
The most memorable experience I had was when I attended a regional lunch meeting. Once a month, Edward Jones Financial Advisers get together for a nice lunch to share investment ideas, client relational ideas, and motivational advice. This had a big impact on me because it gave me surprising insight into the culture of Edward Jones. Financial Advisers are not competitors, but more like partners. I learned how truly helpful advisers are to one another. There is a wonderful sense of community.

Advice for others...
Edward Jones is a firm with a wonderful values. Anyone who works with Edward Jones would be more than happy to help out. I think that if someone is interested in running their own financial service business with support from a well known firm, Edward Jones should be their first choice. I think their internship program is intended for those who are sure they want to run their own business out of college and it can definitely lead to a life-long career for those who take the initiative.
