I was responsible for...
My responsibilities were mainly to work with the Go Red for Women program. This was a program of 12 challengers who were selected because they had a much higher risk of heart disease, heart attack, and other cardiovascular risks. I helped train an hour long class on Tuesday and Thursday nights for 12 weeks. There were usually 12-15 women since alumni were also welcomed back. Some nights we would split up so I would be in charge of half the class and have to come up with a workout which was usually a timed circuit. Outside of the night classes I would train the women one-on-one through the week on the off days. I would also spend time shadowing other trainers and observing their style of training.

I accomplished...
My greatest accomplishment was learning how to and becoming more comfortable and confident in a group setting. Managing a large group like the Go Red program was very hard for me in the beginning because I was very uncomfortable. I was use to one-on-one situations. Helping train the 12-15 women every Tuesday and Thursday night really helped me grow and accomplish something I would have tried to avoid until further down the road.

I learned...
The greatest lesson I learned was that it is okay to push people. I didn't want the women to become uncomfortable or hate exercise so I never really pushed them as hard as I probably could have in the beginning. As time went on I started to figure it out and finally started to push them to an extent so it was challenging but not a painful uncomfortable.

Advice for others...
My advice would be to not wait until the last minute to find your internship. I stressed myself out way too much because I waited until the last minute to search. START EARLY!
