I was responsible for...
I was able to assist the wellness department in multiple ways. For employee wellness we did fitness center memberships and orientations. I got to do employee health screenings as well as a metabolic syndrome program. I was able to do fitness evalutaions and consultations. I ended up teaching a weekly fitness class. On top of the employee wellness I got to do corporate wellness which included heatlh screenings, consultations, blood profiles, and coporate presentations.

I accomplished...
I was able to run a fitness class, advertise wellness programs, give a presentation, and do health screenings/consultations.

My most valuable effort...
I wouldn't say that one project was more valuable than aother just because they all had their benefits and I enjoyed them all. Working with people one on one was awesome at health screenings and the stress presentation were all valuable projects to me.

I learned...
Public speaking was a huge one so the presentation was a big one because you can never have enough practice and being able to speak to a group of people is going to benefit you no matter what you do.

I will never forget...
My most memorable experience from my internship would be the early morning health screenings that took place at 5 am. Getting up that early is sort of crazy because you are one of the only cars driving through Des Moines at that time and you wouldn't expect that considering the size. On top of that it is just a lot of fun to able to talk with people one on one during your consulations and hear what people have to say.

A surprising discovery...
I enjoyed the politics of things more than I expected. When I say politics I mean the passing of particular rules and codes. The meetings we got to attend sort of struck my interest on that and that was surprising to me.

Advice for others...
The advice I would give those following in my footsteps would be to reach out and don't be afraid to try new things. Everything can be a little scary at first, but I have gotten to see and experience a lot of neat things by stepping out of my comfort zone. What you put in is exactly what you will get from this internship and your future so don't hold back.
